    Hello everyone,
I got these pictures from Post Canyon in Hood River, Oregon and need them ID'd for a project I'm doing in organic chemistry. I need to be able to extract a molecule which I can only find the process for after I know the name.

The first one I was told has a common name of Nettle and the second has the common name of Stink weed (around here anyways). I've uploaded 2 different views of the Nettle and one of the Stink Weed.

Thank you very much in advance,
    Sarah

First one is a thistle, maybe Spear Thistle Cirsium vulgare.

My fingers hurt just looking at the pictures. Yes, you'd expect the other one to turn out to be false Solomon's seal (Smilacina > Maianthemum).
