    I am very confused, I have had another chance to have a good look at your pic. I seem to see leaves that are opposite and alternate! I was sure Eupatorium sp was right. Now.......????

    Would you please add another pic to this post, showing a close up of the flowers.

    I found out that it is indeed a Eupatorium: Eupatorium 'Chocolate'. Very good ID!

    Hmmm! Eupatorium rugosum Chocolate, has got another newer name which is Ageratina altissima Chocolate. It is one I have tried to grow on at least 3 occasions and failed miserably! I am not completely convinced! The whole point of the name Chocolate is that it has brown/chocolate coloured leaves. Nor does it get round the problem... that it has opposite leaves........
