This looks like a variety of kalanchoe, but I've never seen one this tall with these "brushy" blooms (or brushy growths) on them. Any help is appreciated. This plant is in a friend's back yard. He lives in San Francisco, Cal, & I live in TX. The previous landlord at my friend's home was a botanist, and they now have many plants they can't identify. Their yard looks like a botanical garden, to say the least. It is truly beautiful!
Awww, thank you SO MUCH! I really do appreciate your help, I would have never guessed that, as I was thinking it was some sort of kalanchoe. Happy gardening to you, Cheryl
Hippofan is correct, definitely a Banksia (from Australia) as to which sort, I will have a look when I get more time, I think I know the one I just can't remember off hand Ed
Offhand, it reminds me of Banksia serrata, but I'm too ignorant of species diversity in the genus to be certain.
