First photo is of a ground cover that I found under a friends bushes years ago. It produces sweet little 3/8" (pansy-like) blue flowers in spring. Second is this strange plant that has popped up in 3 places in my lawn. Is either native? Invasive? Noxious Weeds? Thanks for your help.
1. Might be a Veronica. V. chamaedrys. Common name Germander speedwell. See.... http://www.plant-identification.co.uk/skye/scrophulariaceae/veronica-chamaedrys.htm 2. Looks like Epipactis helleborine.See.... http://ct-botanical-society.org/galleries/epipactishell.html
Luddite, You've done it again. Thanks for helping me out with so many plants! I'm so glad to know about that groundcover finally. It is so sweet!
Luddite, I wonder after further research what the difference is between chamaedrys (Germander Speedwell) and umbrosa (Georgia Blue) is? They look quite similar to this untrained eye.
wildgardener, Veronica umbrosa Georgia blue , common name creeping speedwell, is completely different in the way it grows--it creeps. Yours is taller, more upright in habit. Also check out the leaf shape, they are very different.Hope this helps. See.... http://classygroundcovers.com/item-...-2-in-}-veronica-Speedwell-peduncularis--9345
