Please Help ID these "Burrs"

    The following photos are of burrs that link a home invasion suspect to a crime scene.
    The dried plant material was clipped on July 4th in Southwest Michigan.
    The scale used in the photograph is in millimeters.
    Each "burr" is about 2mm in diameter and has a "chestnut burr" or
    "sea urchin" style appearance.

    Maybe you could re-hydrate some leaves and burrs, leaving them attached to the stem, spread them out carefully, and photograph them.
