Photo One - I bought what I believe to be a variety of Dianthus at the flea market in Cloverdale. The vendor said it's flox of some kind. Perennial?

Photo Two - a Zebra Mallow which flowered and has new flowering shoots at the base of its stem. Can I clip it right back next month to get a potential bloom next year?
