I visited the Gardens yesterday during the Apple Festival and noticed a plant near the Garden Shop which had beautiful red flowers and something in the name like African Cocchea. I had no camera or paper available to make note of the proper name - does anyone have any idea?

    Colchicum?
    Crocosmia? (More likely, I think.)

Hesperantha coccinea? I have not been to the garden in some time...

If no photo can be posted, give us more detail as to the appearance of the plant and its flowers.

Debby remembers the entrance well: Hesperantha coccinea is in full bloom there right now (the likely species asked about)

Re: Plant Variety near UBC Botanical Garden Garden Shop - Hesperantha coccinea

Daniel's photo is better than mine, but I was going to post this today anyway, as it's been a while since anything has been posted here.
