    Hi,

I got a plant without a label and now that I need to repot it (or plant it out) I will like to know which plant it is.

I have been looking on internet for a week so far and I can't find what it is. For the shape and smell makes me think that can be a Eruca sativa, but pictures on internet shows a lower type of plant with more foliage.

Attach are pictures of the leaves and plant (sorry for the quality).

    Regards,

Can you smell anything notable when you brush your hands over the leaves? I think this may be epazote, or Dysphania ambrosioides. If there is a strong scent, sort of tarry medicinal, that's probably it. I consider it a weed here but it has some uses for people who cultivate it and know what to do with it.

If it has a pleasant, spinach sort of smell rather than a tarry one, it's one of the Chenopodiums, and is edible in salads. It's a weed for me, but I tolerate it because it's so tasty.

If it's tarry, then as Than says it's Epazote. This is added as leaves to bean dishes to neutralize the lignins (kind of like natural Bean-o) and adds a pleasant flavour as well. I cultivate Epazote on purpose for this exact reason.

    Hi,

After checking a bit more I got an answer from the "The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh" indicating that the plant is a Osteospermum sometimes known as Dimorphothec.

I will need to wait till July when it flowers to enjoy it. Thanks for your answer :) The smell is more like pepper but I'm not a Smell Tester ;)

    Much appreciate.

I'm not sold on that last determination, looks instead like the previous suggestion. I'm quite familiar with the daisy and this does not look like it to me.

    Hi,

Thanks for your answers. I also not that sure but I'm a complete beginner on plants identification.

I suppose the best will be just to keep taking care of the plant and check if flowers. Then I suppose it will be easy to identify the plant.

I will then update this thread.

    Much appreciate.
    Ismael
