I bought a plant last year that has 3 colours on the leaves - green, red & yellow and lovely little white flowers with 4 petals. It has a very strong metal smell which is unpleasant and grows by runners so I am glad I put it into a pot which is now choc-a-bloc with this plant. Does anyone know it's name - I bought it at a nursery but didn't get a tag with it. Thanks, Marian
Could it be Houttuynia cordata 'Chameleon' ? Some info here http://plantfacts.ohio-state.edu/pocketgardener/source/description/ho_rdata.html and photos here www.srgc.org.uk/pport/Houttuynia/Houttuyinia.html
Thank you. It is exactly the plant you mention. I think I'll keep it in a pot after reading some of the comments. It is very pretty though!
I find it does best as a marginal aquatic. I grow it in a 3 gallon pot, and sink the pot 3/4 deep into water.
