This plant is out of control- another adoptee. Can you tell me what it is, and more importantly, can it handle a severe pruning to get it back to a more manageable size? Thanks for all the help- you guys are great! - Pequaref
It looks like a hibiscus. I have never grown one myself but i know someone who has and she cut it way back at one point. It came back after a while and looked healthy and was shaped great after that. Yours looks like the leaves may be a little wilted. Is the soil dry very far down? I'd say to give it a good drink if it is dry and wait a few days then chop it to the size you like.
in the summer you should pruned the hibiscus back hard and gradualy place it outside in full sun, water it and fetilize it well and it should grow and bloom wonderfully for you all summer and fall. Also never let this plant dry out completely it may not recover very well and wil drop some leaves and flower buds if it does.
