My neighbor thought he dug up this plant - some kind of Yucca? - roots and all last year. Lo and behold there it is again. He wants to know the name and how he can get rid of it permanently. Is there a household product he can pour on it to kill without affecting the other plants? This is not the only one in his garden. We're in White Rock, BC

Just a suggestion because I know BC has lots of restrictions on plant killers. You might try straight vinegar. Poke deep holes all around the plant so the vinegar will get down to the roots. Yuccas grow in alkaline soil. Acidify the soil majorly and that may do the job. Try a hardware or garden shop and get the strong stuff. What you get at the grocery store isn't very strong. Good luck...barb
