I see these plant globes on the market (kind of steep; just shy of $200) and I like the concept but I'm not sure how efficient they are. Obviously they would need to be near a window but I figured the right plant is whats the key here, I was taught back in high school in biology class that plants can use something like 20x the amount of Co2 in our atmosphere that is available to them. So with that being said, how fast does a plant exchange Co2 for oxygen?? Does this concept of providing the plant with more Co2 by rushing air through the foliage actually create more oxygen and "clean the air"
I am almost certain that this, and similar products, are worthless at best. A couple nice large indoor plants will cost half as much, clean the air much better, and use no electricity; their pots will take up less space in a landfill and may actually be recyclable. Also: adding oxygen to air does not make it better air.
Welcome aboard "Comfortably Numb". A big Spider plant (chlorophytum) would probably do just as well and at a lot less money. ;)) Barb
