    what Ron B. said

( I said Salal had red berries) I edited after Ron B posted. I was thinking of gaultheria procumbens rather than shallon.

Salal berries aren't red when mature. Anyway, this is tall Oregon grape (Mahonia aquifolium ).

    What red berries?
The pics show purple berries on my system

Also (Berbeidaceae) Mahonia aguifolium is also Known as Tall Oregon Grape. Another way to Identify them is that salal berriris are hollow bell shaped when ripe while the oregon grape does in fact resemble a grape:)

Thanks to everyone who responded to my post. Tall Oregon grape seems about right.
