Looks like rhubarb with green stalks to the large (12" - 30" wide) leaves. Plant grows in Northern California, is 5-6 feet tall with a celery like main stalk with white/light green colored flowers that look like broccoli. Seeds do not seem to generate new plants. This plant is a perennial.

Thanks for the reply. Our plant doesn't have any shades of red, do you think that it could still be a Rheum?

Yes, it's merely a culinary rhubarb in flower.
