Just picked this up a home depot. They were not sure what it was but thought it may be in the banana family.
Anyone have an idea? The Latin name is preferred that way I can research it
    Thanks

    Hi terrygone,

I bought one of these this year too. Genus is Ensete, not sure of the species. The bananas that we eat are of the genus Musa. This plant will grow fast and get large (5-10 feet or more depending on the species). I put mine outside for more light and the leaves burned, so you will want to be careful about adjusting it to outdoor conditions. I have not grown it before, so I really don't know the exact conditions needed for best success. I thought it really fun to get something that would get really big in one season. I am hoping to grow it in the yard as a summer container plant.
