Oxalis for sure. The easiest way to propagate it is to divide out some of the corms, but if you hand-pollinate it with a paintbrush, you can also collect seed. Where I live, Oxalis is a weed that grows out of the sidewalks, so I'd guess that if you can get it to set seed you won't have any difficulty getting it to grow.

Thanks a lot for your help. I could get detailed info after identification done by you of Oxalis triangularis 'Purpurea'.

    Its a lovely house plant.

    Lorax,
Are the seeds pretty easy to get going? I'd like to try using a paintbrush and see what happens.
I have 4" pot of a few purple oxalis mixed in with green. It would be nice to get a few more purple ones going.

Extremely easy to get going. Plant in moist soil, water occasionally. As I said, they're weeds here.

I also have one of these, except it's green. Can you describe hand pollination with a paintbrush for me? Do you just take a brush, and apply it first to the outer part of a blooming flower, and then to the innermost part? I don't know all the correct flower reproduction terminology here. If I do this, how will I know that it has set seed?

    Thank you!

Do you know about how long it would take to form the seeds?

Polination: Take a fine (size 0 or 1) sable paintbrush, and gently stick it into the flowers. Oxalis flowers are not so big - the paintbrush should just fit in. Then transfer it to the next flower and repeat the process.

Growth: The ones here come up in about 1-2 weeks.

    Thank you.
