Plant Identification

    Hi! I need help identifying what sort of cherry fruit this is. Originally, my dad thought that this was some sort of apple tree since a couple weeks back the leaves looked similar. After a couple weeks, we figured that this must be some sort of cherry.

    I've attached and linked to some photos that I took a few weeks back and some I took today.

    Also! An additional question--if you know what this plant is, what is the right time to pick it?

    Cherries are succulent and juicy, crabapples such as this one have the firm spongy flesh of orchard apples. Also as with orchard apples there are hundreds of named cultivars present in North America, as well as unnamed spontaneous seedlings along roads, around gardens etc.
