We had this plant given to us when we bought our house 4 years ago. It has never really thrived but has managed to survive. Just recently I noticed these weird things growing on it and decided to look into. Once I can identify the plant hopefully I can then take some steps to improve it. Also if anyone can tell me what the things growing on it are that would really help. See the pics below. Flower buds? That's funny. The seem to be leaking a little sap is that normal? Any idea what type of plant it is? Luke
Your plant looks to be located in a very bright location. If it is getting as lot of sun that may account for it not doing too well. Dracaenas tend to prefer medium to bright indirect light but not full sun.
Luke, you actually got your dracaena to flower indoors? Congratulations! Let us know how fragrant they are when the flowers open.
I will let you know once they bloom! I don't know what I did to make it happen, like I said I was worried something was wrong with it as I have never seen the buds on it before. Heck, I didn't even know it was supposed to ever have buds. I moved it to a new location more suited to it's natural habitat. Hopefully the change won't inhibit the buds from opening. Luke
Well I have never smelt a plant so fragrant. I mean I would come home over the past week and smell the plant as soon as I opened our door. I would be lying in bed at night and catch a smell of the fragrance drifting past my nose. What a treat it was. Now though it seems the flowers are dying off. My question is what am I suppose to do? Do I cut them off or leave them? If I cut the how to I do it? What tool would I use and where would I cut? Thanks in advance. Luke
