    Hi,

I am trying to bring a more positive energy into my home by bringing plants and flowers into my home but I thought I would start small since I don't have much experience....my first plant I can't seem to find it's info because it came with no name so I would really like some help to identify it so I can take better care of it.

If anyone could help it would be much appreciated

    Thanks!

parlor palm. does best with indirect light and the soil needs to be kept moist. not totally sogged out - just moist.

Jocylyn appears to have nailed it. But be aware, I have grown many of these in near direct sunlight in Florida. They can easily reach ten to twelve feet. Many nurseries who grow them in Florida do grow them in direct sunlight, my son worked for the one where we bought all our specimens including the three we have in our atrium. It needs relatively bright indirect light to prosper but will do OK in a bit dimmer light. Just not a really dark room.

Yes, as Joclyn and Steve said, they do grow in full sun you just have to keep the water up to them. Mine is in full sun and its been there a year, and I haven't kept the water up to it and it doesn't like it, but its still growing slowly, and will have a better chance when i hook my 23,000 litre water tank up :)

Thanks for putting that in Ed. I totally had forgotten how much water I had to give these palms in Florida. Here, in our atrium, they are in bright diffused light and reach to the top of the building wall (almost 4 meters) trying to capture more sunlight. We keep the soil moist almost all the time and they appear to be quite happy.
