Hi experts, Can anyone help me identify this plant? I don't remember what it is, but it was growing so well for about a year in a relatively dark environment, where its only light was from a compact fluorescent floor lamp. I recently moved to a new place and put the plant under the same light, but the ambient light conditions were much better, and I noticed that the plant was growing much faster than before. So I decided to put it on the balcony to see what happens. Two days later, its leaves were all turned away from the sun and looked very droopy. I put it back inside right away, but it has not recovered. It keeps getting more and more sick, and I don't know how to save it. I love this plant! What can I do?
Something from Carica or Vasconcella, I think - that's a Papaya, Babaco, or a relative. I'd be leaning towards Papaya. It's grumpy because it got maybe a bit chilly out on the balcony - get it back into the warm under its lamp and hold off watering for a couple of days and it should perk up again. Kudos for growing a papaya that far north!
I'm not sure what it is, but looks like a fatsia or an aralia. Those seem more likely for a houseplant in Ontario.
Well, I have been wrong before, and I'm sure I'll be wrong again! I didn't know the Aralias had trunk-scarring like that.
Hi experts, I took two more pictures because the original was a little blurry. The Fatsia Japonica looks the most similar to me, but I'm colorblind and know nothing about plants, so... :) It has been a few days since I watered it, so I gave it a lot of water and put it in the laundry room on top of the water heater, where it is dark and warm. Is that okay or should I move it? This plant is like a child to me! :'(
