Can anyone id this plant? It appeared early in spring and has these odd spotted stalks. We had this early warm spell this year that seems to have brought a bunch of new plants to the garden that were not there last year.
I had no idea this plant could be so interesting! When it blooms, I will post a new photo, thank you.
I believe that it is Dracunculus vulgaris. http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?i...-gb:IE-SearchBox&rlz=1I7SUNA_en-GB&tbs=isch:1
Yes, that looks like it to a 'T'. It must have been dormant last year, but this year, it is covering a large swatch down the side of the house. Thanks, I am looking forward to seeing it bloom.
Inflorescences smell like a dead rodent at first, but odor goes away while these are still fresh-looking. Spectacular infrutescences may follow.
