I was in an office the other day and saw this plant that I loved. No one knew what it was called, but I simply Must find out. It was bushy, about three feet tall, has this really subtle but almost musky smell, and from across the room has a purple tint. I snagged one of the leaves before I left. I attached the scanned image to this. Not a lot to go on, I know, but I would greatly appreciate any help.

You may get an answer here - won't be from me, as I don't know indoor plants very well - but if you don't, grab a book on indoor plants from a library, or even better, visit a store that sells indoor plants and ask - you can take the leaf with you.

Were all the leaves hanging downward from horizontal, or even droopy branches? If the leaves were at least 2" or longer, it may have been a ficus, but the variety escapes me. Go to http://www.bonsaihunk.us/cultural.html and see if Jerry can't identify it for you - he's a ficus expert if ever there was one!

Looks like a Eucalyptus - though that isn't a plant commonly grown as an indoors office plant. Did it smell like Eucalyptus oil? (try crushing the leaf you've got, the smell should still be there if it is fairly fresh)

    Thanks for the replies!

Yes, Rima, it kinda of looks like a clump of weeping willow branches and the leaves are about 1.5-2"... and I'll definately look into that site.

and, Michael, it doesn't smell like eucalyptus, but I looked up some images of those leaves and it does look pretty close, so I'll look into that too.

    Thanx
