Identification: plant ID

    please help me identify this plant.

    and this plant is sick, can somebody advise on how i can help it recover?

    I think I had one of those.... It died... I found out the following AFTER it died.

    This is what I was told to do.

    Keep the soil lightly humid. Watering once a week. (NOT every two days as I was doing, because it was dried out.)

    Keep the plant HUMID that is, spray it with water like what a hair spray bottle would put out. I was told it was a tropical plant, therefore it needed to be humid. I bought a spray bottle at the dollar store, but it was obviously too late.

    (note: do not recycle hair spray bottles for your plants!)

    Oh yeah. NO direct sunlight.
