Out for a walk this evening in White Rock BC April 26. Rainy the past couple of days and it's good to know a strategically placed tarp stopped that leak in my roof. Lucky me as they're hard to find! Roofers coming in July. 1. a common garden flower 2. a kind of violet? 3. a closer photo of a recently posted query. Is this really a berberis? 4. phlox or a rocket?
1 - Sweet alyssum (Lobularia maritima) 2 - Forget-me-not 3 - Looks berberis, indeed 4 - Annual honesty (Lunaria annua), http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lunaria_annua
First does not look quite like Lobularia maritima to me. Maybe A. needs to enlarge the picture for a closer look. Barberry is still Berberis microphylla.
Another possibility would be Iberis. But the latter usually has more asymmetrical petals. Having a look at the pod would be a perfect solution.
Yes, there is an obvious resemblance to Iberis sempervirens which is much-planted here. Differences from typical for that species might be accounted for by it being a compact selection, or a different species entirely.
