wow! that's really pretty!!! i have no idea what it is though...someone here will, though!! i'm subscribing to the thread so i can learn what it is...such a unique flower, and purple to boot, is a must-have for my garden if it's hardy to my zone!
Kinda resembles a member of the Caryophyllaceae: star chickweed (Stellaria corei) or lesser stitchwort (S. graminea). Something like. Whatever it is, I agree with you , joclyn: it is beautiful. Quick, someone! ID this plant! Silene stellata...? Ooh...how about Elephantopus carolinianus, Carolina Elephant's Foot? Think so. http://www.pbase.com/cmf46/image/101953983
