    Hi,

Found this plant growing at a Northern VA woodland edge...seems to have deep tap root, multiple stems, 5 leaflets (opposite) green on top of leaf, reddish underside. Not anything I introduced....growing "wild" but could be non- native.

    Any ideas? Thank-you!

Edited to say, possible that this is a tree species but that it's a sprout from an older tree....I just don't see anything near it that resembles it, trees or otherwise.

    I *think* it's Sambucus...does that seem right?

I don't know what it is, but it's not Sambucus, which have compound leaves (each leaf has leaflets lined up across from each other), and these are simple leaves.
