Plant ID help

    Please help me ID this. Recently we came across a plant that we have never seen before. It was located near Quesnel Lake in the Cariboo--northern British Columbia. It was located in a very wet area with old growth cedar trees. Here photo I have attached is one I "borrowed" from the google machine, as I didn't have my camera. The leaves were VERY large and broad. The middle portion of the plant, as shown in the photo was approximately 4-5" long, and quite hard.

    Looks like skunk cabbage, Lysichiton americanus.

    YEP! skunk cabbage. That middle portion of the plant should turn yellow. When we were kids my sister, being a brat, bit into the center portion and it burned her mouth badly.
