Now that I have everything identified in the yard, I am looking to add some new plants and have seen these growing in my neighborhood and would like to know what they are.

The first one is clearly a lavender, but I would love to know what kind. I ran into the owner one day and asked, but she said they were there when she moved in and she didn't know.

    # 3 looks like a Hebe
    # 5 Cistus

#2 looks like Armeria, but I have only seen grass-like leaves on Armeria before.

#1. Lavandula stoechas probably Helmsdale, one of many common names, Spanish lavender.
#4. Cerastium tomentosum, common name Snow-in-summer.
#5. probably a Cistis of some sort, they come in all colors and are in full bloom now.
    #'s 2 & 3 are a mysyery.....
I called Pelindaba Lavender Farms in Friday Harbor and talked with Jessica Mc Donald, Who says she knows "a little bit" about Lavenders, she recommended a book "Lavender Growers Guide" by McNaughton. She also said to check the internet for Goodwin Creek Gardens. They have good pictures. Hope this helps.....barb

Thanks Barb, Erik and Lila. I will definitely check out the lavender book, thanks for the amazing research. I guess I have developed a thing for lavender.

Will still try to figure out those two ground covers, thanks for the suggestions. The place where I took those pictures I think may belong to some serious plant people, their yard is pretty amazing, so it might be something less common. I'll try to walk by there more often and see if I can spot the householder.

    csiemens,
Be brave, just go up and knock on the door at a time you think they might be home. Plant people love sharing their gardens. Especially, when someone takes the time to stop and ask questions.
