    Hi all,
I'm new here, but glad to find some experts who're happy to help!
Can anyone id the plant in the attached pic?
It's a purple photonastic plant, with three-leaves on each stalk that close downwards at night, with small pink flowers.

Received a cutting from a friend, but can't find anyone who's seen it before.
    advice very much appreciated :)
    thanks,
    Adam

Oh is that what it's called? I never knew. Actually, I never wondered, either. My family always knew pefectly well it's not a real shamrock, but that's what we always called it anyway since it never really mattered to us that much what it was. We just love it, and that was all that mattered. Ours is the green, not the purple-ish, but the leaves and flowers are identical. If it's not exactly the same plant, it's close enough for me. EDIT: Oh, I'm guessing mine is the Regnelli Triangularis instead of the Oxalis?

We have one that began as a single stem in a 2" pot. Mom bought it the day after St. Pattie's Day in 1978, it was on clearance and about to be thrown away. She has an absolutely black thumb, and this is the only plant she was ever able to keep alive, so it's the only houseplant we ever had when I was a kid. I didn't know I had a green(ish) thumb until I moved out on my own! Over the years this plant has grown and grown, been transplanted into many pots and given as gifts. Everyone in the family owns a cutting of it, and its health swings are attributed to our family's luck swings. When things are going badly for us, it wilts... then revives when things pick up again. Mine is currently outgrowing a 21" window box! Life is good!
