Greetings all! Im having great difficulty identifying these two plants, and hopefully have arrived at the right place for some assistance :) Both of these I have found in 2 areas, Mnt Kobau near Osoyoos, and Wrinkley Face Prov. Park above Winfield. Sub-alpine to alpine, semi-desert to desert; rocky and very poor soil. Thanks in advance :)
Old Mans Whiskers, the seeding phase of the Purple Avens. One down, one to go... No guesses on the 6 lobed star..? Anyone?
Thanks David! I can see how this bud could become a lilly. I will definately have to hike back up in the next few days to see what this bulb will turn into!
Re: Plant ID assistancchat Fritillaria camschatcensis, common names are Chocolate lily or for smell Skunk lily
Locally the first species mentioned is the repeatedly seen one more likely to be encountered outside of specific (often wetland) habitats here and there where Kamchatka fritillary has been recorded. If there is nothing particular about the structure of the fruits shown or the location given here that point to this last species then it would be expected to be Fritillaria affinis instead.
