Limes, represent! Especially Ecuadorian sweet striped red limes!

I've not heard of such limes. Do they have a proper botanical name? Or are they in the same category as "The Merciless Peppers of Quetzlzacatenango - Grown deep in the jungle primeval by the inmates of a Guatemalan insane asylum" (from The Simpsons)?

I have no idea - they're called Limon Rayado locally. They are the size of key limes, with skins striped in regular lime colour and very pale green. The flesh inside is the colour of blood oranges, and the flavour is like sugared key lime. Next time I have some, I'll post a picture.

Looking forward to seeing this interesting fruit, lorax. Searches keyed on Rayado didn't turn up any useful information.

Wow I would love to see some of these. I'm surprised they are not more popular.

I think they're a local cultivar - I never see them in Colombia or Peru, just here in Ecuador.
