These Pinus canariensis, Canary Island Pines, are in San Diego, at the Marston House; or some of the photos may have been taken near the road at the north entrance to Balboa Park, where the Marston House is located.

Three needles per bundle. My hand span is a bit over 20cm.

I am growing it here in my garden which is in zone 8 for 12 years .
Cold hardiness for this species is a hotly debated subject. My personal view is that with the right soil conditions it will thrive up to zone 8.
I have made a small photo album of this tree in its natural setting in a trip I took there last January: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1971974&l=0a33189a19&id=1099441879
