Hi, I have these strange almost embossed dots on some of my citrus trees/seedlings. I doubt that they're scale because by looking on the backs of the leaves it looks like the bumps are as a result of the leaf itself being raised up slightly. I have attached some pictures of my key lime seedlings. I know that the bumps are hard to see. I'm not even sure if this is a normal thing of some citrus species, if it's insects, or if its because of some mineral difficiency. Any help is greatly appreciated, Thank you, -Ryan P.S. One of my larger citurs has had this for a while but now it's getting small spots of yellow on some of these leaves near the tip :(. I'm not sure if the two conditions (yellowing and the dots) are related or not. Again any help is very much appreciated,
Your picture does not show the indentation that you are writing about. If your post concerns a leaf indentation that begins from the top of the leaf, then projects through the leaf and out the bottom but does not actually break causing a hole, but rather forms a small cone or pyramid that projecst above the leaf bottom, then that problem called Vein Enation. -Millet
Hi Millet, Thanks for the reply. I looked around for information about vein enation and can't seem to find pictures (aside from pictures about the viruses that can cause it) or very much other information about the condition. Hopefully this picture will be clear enough to be of use. The two leaves at the top are more in focus and a little easier to see. When I open the file in another window and look at the full size picture I can see most of the dots on the upper two leaves. I'm not sure where the condition starts exactly. From what I can tell, the bumps seem to happen pretty much at the same time all over the leaves (I could easily be wrong though). As always, any help is greatly appreciated :), Thank you, -Ryan
The second picture is a lot clearer, the dots have nothing to do with vein enation. The dots you see are on every citrus leaf of every citrus variety. They are oil glands. Nothing is wrong with your tree. - Millet
