Not familiar with it myself, but one of the experts on the forum might know what your tree is. In the mean time, here are some close up photos of Chinese cedar or Cedrela (Toona) sinensis I found at "Select Trees" on line for comparison. Click on the detail information link at the top of that page for a written description. Certainly looks similar to me, but there are others here a lot more saavy than I about trees in general or particular. Great tree in any case. Harry

Yes, it's a toona. The leaves will turn green later. Apparently it is on a northern hemisphere schedule, leafing out when it would be spring in the northern hemisphere. Summer-blooming Australian native shrub Grevillea victoriae blooms fall-spring in cultivation here, maybe the toona shown has never made the adjustment either.

The variety 'Flamingo' is described as having "vivid pink young leaves, turning creamy yellow then bright green" (AHS A-Z encyclopedia). Looks like a dandy.

    Thanks for your comments.
Actually I made a mistake with the seasons!
It was in the middle of our spring when we took this photo.
When I drove by maybe a month or so later the leaves have all turned light green.
I'd love to plant one at our place but not sure if the local nurseries would stock this tree.
