Sorry if this has been asked before, I'm new to northern BC and flower id. This flower has appeared in bloom in the 1-2 weeks. We are on treed and meadowed land on mountainside, but these appear to be growing mostly along the edge between meadow & trees. I would guess the flowerstalk is made up of very tiny flowers, turning to fuzzy or from fuzzy as it blooms (see top). Plant is about 18" to 2' tall. I've included a photo of it within it's location. I will also send an ID request in another message re the white flowers in the background.

Picture is a bit small... Spiraea may be?

    I'd guess Spiraea douglasii.

Thanks to both of you. Spiraea douglasii looked pretty close when I checked it out. I was about to add a bigger/clearer photo but still will. Mine are not very big, unless they are all young bushes. About 18-24 inches or 46-61 cm tall. Definitely appears to be a spirea though. When you click on the image you can see the newer florets starting to open at the bottom of the head.
    Thanks for the help.

JUST FOUND IT: Spiraea salicifolia (Meadowsweet)! Thanks for all the help, I couldn't have located it without being steered in the right direction. Let me know if you think I got it wrong. Actually, I found a couple more in the middle of our meadow just now.

Would tend to go with S. douglasii as the stems seem reddish brown, native to your area. Blooms on bushes from 3' to 9' here. S. pyramidata may also be native to your area, maybe a possibility. Apparently S. salicifolia {willow leaf} grows in the eastern N.A., naturalized, not sure if it has in western N.A.
