    Hi Folks,

Just wondered if anyone could help with the ID of this mushroom. I found it on a log on the beach at Qualicum Bay in January.

    Thanks,
    Judy

It might be Pleurotus (Panellus) longinquus. This "oyster" sometimes has pink tones, and has those cap striations. It's also usually the last oyster to appear in the year, typically a winter oyster.
If you'd like to be certain of the ID, here's a link to a helpful key:

    Hi Frog,

I had compared it to a Panellus longinquus that I found in Sooke almost two years ago to the day but the distinct pink colour threw me off. Indeed, following the key, I'm sure that's what it is.

    Thanks very much!

    Cheers,
    Judy

A beautiful grouping! I have to definately agree with Frog on this as I've seen them in this beautiful pink to a violet tone only a couple times. How lovely and lucky for u!
