Ok. There is a large group of people in my city wondering what this plant is. I will take a better picture soon, but hopefully someone can identify it when they see the fruit/nut? thing that it produces. It's bright pink to red, round, about the size of a lychee nut and patterned with a honeycomb design, each honeycomb has a little spike coming out of it. The bush/tree? I saw was full of blue jays, I'm not sure if they were eating it or not, but I am also not sure that matters too much.
This is the fruit of the Kousa Dogwood, Cornus kousa. Someone else asked the same question recently in one of the other forums.
Ditto to Cornus kousa. The fruit is edible, and can be delicious. But you'll have to be quick if you want to beat those jays to the rest of them ;-)
