    This is Fritillaria pinetorum, the pinewoods fritillary, and is an uncommon California endemic inhabiting shaded granitic slopes from 6,000' to about 12,500' in the central high Sierra Nevadas, the Tehachapi Mts, and quite rarely in the Transverse Range of Southern California, which is where this photo was taken north of Big Bear Lake in the San Bernardinos.
