cananyone here name me a pine tree that looses or seems to loose all of its needles during the winter and regrowes them in the spring???
Far northern native species is called tamarack. Western mountains have subalpine larch and western larch. Japanese larch and European larch common in North American cultivation, where climate and soils suitable.
It looks a bit too broad-crowned for Tamarack Larch (L. laricina), that is usually slender-crowned. More likely European Larch (L. decidua) or Siberian Larch (L. sibirica).
