Photos of Life on Mars?

I appreciate the cautious tone they have taken in this paper. I have to say the photos, and the fact that they are seeing what appears to be growth over time, are compelling.
I wish it was possible to examine what they are photographing ... though immediately the potential hazard there also comes to mind....

- What do you think: Does the shape that they are thinking looks lichen-like look more myxomycete-like to you?
- Star Trek I expect will get some mileage from this, re their astromycologist character :-)
