Daniel Mosquin did a late in the day members tour today, concentrating on seeking out attractive light in the garden for photographs. It was pretty interesting trying to copy photos that Daniel took, even after he told us what he thought about and what he did. He didn't photograph either of my subjects here, my favourite photos today, so I didn't have anything to compare to. I hope we can contact the others in the group and convince them to post some of their photos. Daniel suggested that I move around to see how the light would change on the spider web, which brought out the colours on the web. Here is more back-lighting, on Kalmia latifolia in the alpine garden. The last two were taken with my real camera, first four with my phone. I have room for one more - a sunflower.
OK, I found some others I like. I took the first photo of the Franklinia alatamaha before the tour. The spider was still there when we saw it on the tour, so the second photo is a different flower. I like the first photo better, but the second flower has nice petal edges. Leaves on the Hydrangea quercifolia, oak-leaf hydrangea, are just starting to colour up. I took this with my phone camera, which I think over-sharpens the photos. Sometimes, I think that works, as in this photo. We caught the last rays on the Ting. We had spent some time looking at structures earlier, so I tried to apply what we talked about here.
