Peter Gregory has died at age 90. Co-founder of the Maple Society and for many years its Chairman and Editor of the Newsletter, Superintendent of Westonbirt Arboretum, author of revisions to J.D. Vertrees "Japanese Maples", co-author of the "World Checklist of Maple Cultivars", Peter was surely one of the greatest maple experts in the world, as well as one of the best loved. There are a few people in this world that pass on their amazing knowledge to others and Peter Gregory was certainly one of those people. His memory will live on in all Maple lovers around the world.
I was saddened to hear of Peter's passing, his knowledge of Maples was endless, he introduced me to the Maple Society back in 2006, he was always there to answer those difficult questions, rest in peace my friend.
Thank you for letting us know. May he rest in peace. We (JM lovers) are sure missed his great maple contribution.
