Hello, I've been asked to count the petals, anthers and styles on a standard long stem rose. I have counted 29 petals, 194 anthers and roughly the same nunber of styles. I wonder if anyone could help me confirm these numbers as I am unable to find any reference in plant dictionary or any databases. I also suspect a petal or two or three could have been removed by the florist when they cleaned the stem for display. Appreciate any info.
    Thanks, Perry

Well, you'll want to look at this page on Floral Formulae for Plant Families, which confirms some of what you've counted. You'll have to consider though that the number of petals for something that has long been hybridized (or most other attributes for that matter) can be far, far distant from what is common for the family (as in your case).
