Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and hoping someone with superior expertise to me can advise me. I have a red currant bush which is greatly afflicted. Although the bush, which is three years old, is growing vigorously something is attacking about 3/4 of the leaves, and perhaps as a result of this I'm not getting much fruit crop. I attach a picture of an afflicted leaf. Three questions: - I'm guessing it's some kind of insect pest inside the leaves. Is this correct? - Is there anything I can do, preferably that doesn't involve some noxious chemical. Last year I took off all the afflicted leaves and burnt them, but the problem came back this year. - It's planted next to my grape vines and some gooseberry bushes. Is there a risk that whatever it is, attacks these plants as well (in which case should I just rip it up and start anew?) Grateful for any guidance PEter
Hand picking infested leaves is the only non-chemical treatment I know of. In my experience that leaves a defoliated plant, which is not what I want.
