I need help identifying this tree i ran into in the Peruvian High Amazon. Attached are photos of the fruit (about the size of a large olive), the flower (about 2.5 inch diameter), and the leaf (approximately 5 x 2 inches). The trees (i saw several) were generally between 10 and 17 feet tall. The most noted aspect of the tree was that the fruit was very fragrant; smelling of spearmint or menthol. It had one large seed in the center a was sweet tasting. any help would be appreciated
Loquat looks like http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=loquat&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi and is native to southeast Asia.
thanks for trying gang, but the most notable feature of this tree is the fragrance of the fruit, and extremely strong menthol/eucalyptus smell (not nispero). any other thoughts would be appreciated
