Could anyone help me ID this perennial flower that was growing along the Desolation Peak Trail in the North Cascades National Park in Washington State?
It's an Antennaria that has gone to fruit. For specifics, might need to track down a species list for the trail and use process of elimination -- this is usually a tough group to ID to species.
We like North Cascades Ntl Park and so your post caught my attn I looked online and the NPS has extensive species lists for N CASCADES ... one is a living list (ie ongoing updating) HOWEVER - the NPS says these lists don’t work well w Safari web browser so I’ll post the links when I’m near Chrome or other browser - thx
It might be included in this list: List The Washington Native Plant Society has lists for many trails and sites.
I've updated the Pacific Northwest Native Plants Resources entry for WNPS to include a link to those.
Have a look here too - remember that somewhere in all these lists - I read that the NPS suggests for best online experience, use browser software OTHER than "safari" (usually the iphone browser) Species Lists - North Cascades National Park (U.S. National Park Service) https://irma.nps.gov/NPSpecies/Reports/SpeciesList/Species Checklist/NOCA/11/false
I remember when I first posted that I found two (2) diff lists about North Cascades One was not so much a "database" but more a live list that the rangers keep. (there was an explanation like that) EDIT - another link to the NPS - North Cascades Plants - North Cascades National Park (U.S. National Park Service)
