I have always understood that both sweet and hot peppers are annuals. But the hot peppers that I planted last spring - which never got any taller than 12" as a result of our truly dreadful weather here in Vancouver - are looking happy in my greenhouse where I put them after moving them from the garden into pots. Not growing, but not dying either. Is there any chance that they will live all winter there and then flourish when I move them back into the garden next spring? (I know that I could try cuttings, but I have never yet had a cutting do anything but die immediately.)

Peppers are actually perennial when grown in the tropics. They will easily survive a winter indoors and will flourish in the garden next spring if properly cared for.
