Ok, this is something I have never understood. I have peperomias. I have read many times that they are semi-succulent, but what does that mean? That they sort of store water? That the branches store water, but not the leaves? The leaves store water, but not the branches? Does anyone know?

Very good question! Firstly, there are hundreds of peperomias, and not all are are semisucculent.

To say a semi-succulent "sort of store water" is more accurate than you may think. I see semi-succulents as those plants that hold a lot of water in their tissues, but are not as drought tolerant as full succulents. African violets, your peperomias, and many other plants store a lot of water in the juicy stems and leaves. Other plants (non-succulents) like grass or moss or pine trees don’t really store any water at all. Then there are the true succulents like cacti and crassula.

Hope there is some logic to that,
    M.

    Thanks M!

That's exactly what I needed to know. The confusion has finally lifted.... ;-)
