Fall is coming and I want to prepare my Peony 'Sarah Bernhardt' (2 roots planted this spring). Do I need to fertilize now or protect them during winter?

Also, should I expect them to bloom next year? This year each plant grew only 1 stem...each stem 4-5 inches tall with leaves, no flowers. Maybe next year I'm hoping for larger plants and possibly flowers. What do you think?

    Hi

What I do here (in Northern B.C. C.A) is give them a 2 inch mulch in the late fall @ oct/ nov and give them a hit of blood meal/bone meal in the spring as soon as the snow is gone.

I usually devide them about now and they bloom in 1 to 2 years.

Make sure that the root is covered atleast 3 inches and they should be fine:)\

    Regards Doug
