Don't have any tips as I've never personally grown any. Your question just caught my eye because you hardly ever hear anyone talk about growing peanuts other than commercially.

However, I do remember that an elderly lady down the road from us when I was a kid grew peanuts in her backyard garden and as I remember they did quite well. The remarkable thing was this was on the front range of Colorado. Not exactly the long, hot growing season we have here in the south which is known for peanuts.

If you've got some started, let us know how they do. I may just try some next spring!

I am going to start them in a container and some directly in the ground to see which grow better in my area. I will update on the progress. :-)

i have only tried growing peanuts one time they sprouted and where about 3 inches tall than a squirel dug them all up and ate what was left of the nut so have not tried them again. i do have a few earth boxes i may try to grow some in one of those worth a shot. i would say the ones in the ground i would put something down to keep the squirels off of them maybe chicken wire or something that the plant can grow thru.
